KLM 747-400 Maiden Flight |
Introduction |
This guide introduces the basic functions of the PMDG 747-400, the most realistic simulation of the real thing. I have tried to work as much as possible with pictures/screenshots accompanied with some explanation. Some subjects and systems of the 747 are very complex and it is beyond the scope of this guide to go in all the required details. Therefore those complex subjects are sometimes explained in only a few sentences, just enough to somewhat understand what you are doing. This makes it possible to immediately take off with this complex aircraft and to master the basics. The 747 comes with an extensive set of documentation and teaching materials for all the details to really find out exactly how things work. Especially a good understanding of the fuel system, the Flight Management Computer (FMC), the Control Display Unit (CDU), the Autopilot (AP) and Mode Control Panel (MCP) is very useful to get the most out of this aircraft! We are going to make a short flight from Amsterdam Schiphol (EHAM) gate F4 where we will depart to the north of the polderbaan (36L). After take-off we follow the Standard Instrument Departure (SID): GORL2V. Then we immediately switch to the Standard Arrival (STAR) REDF1A to land on the kaagbaan (06) and then taxi back to gate F4. Have a nice flight |
